Regeneration of Engine Used Oils by Solvent Extraction

The regeneration of used oil is one the essential processes for economical, industrial and environmental targets. Used rich hydrocarbons, metals (such as: aluminium, chromium, copper, iron, lead, manganese, nickel, silicon tin), gasoline, water antifreeze. Due to high increasing rate number cars, there a huge quantity oil. In this study, different brands were involved in extraction adsorption as process these oils. optimum conditions determined such solvents composition, solvent: ratio, KOH concentration temperature. solvent mixture 40% petroleum ether, 11% 1-butanol 4% 2-propanol has shown best results removing sludge. 3:1 (solvent: oil) ratio may be considered practically economically.
